How location sharing works
FrenWhere shares your location only when you say so, only with the people you choose, and always visibly.
Sharing is off by default
When you install FrenWhere, create an account or join a group, your location is not shared with anyone. Sharing only starts when you explicitly enable it for a specific group.
You choose the duration
When enabling sharing you pick how long it lasts: for example one hour, until the end of the day, or until you turn it off manually. When the period ends, sharing stops automatically.
Only your group sees you
Your live position is visible only to members of the group you are sharing with — never publicly, never to strangers, and never to FrenWhere administrators as a browsing feature.
What your friends see
- Your most recent position on the group map and member list.
- How accurate that position is (for example ±5 m).
- How fresh it is ("updated 2 seconds ago" vs "last seen 3 minutes ago").
- A compass arrow and distance when they use Find mode.
Stopping is instant
One tap pauses sharing immediately. Leaving a group or blocking someone instantly revokes their access to your location. The app always shows a clear indicator while sharing is active, so it can never happen without you knowing.
No movement history
FrenWhere is about finding each other now. We do not keep a history of where you have been by default.
